Bement School

2002-2012
Over a ten-year period, Margo Jones Architects has worked with the Bement School to create a close-knit community of academic and residential buildings that respect Old Deerfield’s remarkable 18th century architecture, yet serves the 21st century academic needs of this independent junior boarding school. In the Fall of 2012 work concluded on the MJA Master Plan with the construction of a second dormitory, for girls, on the north campus. The first dormitory, for boys, completed in 2010 has operated with significantly lower energy consumption, due to its super-insulated envelope, very low infiltration rates, photovoltaic power and solar-powered hot water. These new dormitories create a comfortable, efficient home for 40 boarding students around a semi-private courtyard.
